Route 66 from Amarillo to Albuquerque

Started the morning with a good Southern Breakfast at Calico County, a local cafe outside Amarillo heading west toward Albuquerque.  Veered off onto Route 66 for a stop at the once active Cadillac Ranch which is a line of Cadillacs with their rear ends mooning passbyers.

Next stop on Route 66 was in Vega, TX to see the restored 1920s Magnolia Gas Station.

Then we turned left on Route 66 for our next landmark in Adrian, TX, for the MidPoint Cafe known for their "ugly pie crust" home made pies which did not disappoint in taste and well worth the stop! ☺️  The owner was very engaging making us feel welcome and told us his cafe was recently mentioned in The New York Times as one of the places to stop on Route 66.  The waitress was interested in our trip and talked about visitors from all over the world who stopped at the cafe including a visitor from Spain who had recently signed their guest book.  MidPoint Cafe is midway on Route 66 with 1,139 miles from Chicago and 1,139 miles to Los Angeles.

From the cafe we head west again on Route 66 and run into a section of "The Mother Road" which has not been paved and appeared not to be well traveled.  Using caution over adventure we turned around and got onto Route 40/Route 66 which is more modern.
